That's so great ! Says this 78 year old.

Meet Deon Butler from Inkster, to whom I apologized on behalf of the state of Michigan for failing to detect his Dyslexia. Here is an excerpt from his op-ed👇🏼

“After college, I signed with the Detroit Lions and needed to prove myself to stay on the team. But the NFL playbook was even harder than the college playbook. I thought with hard work and talent that I could show them what I was capable of, but not knowing how to read the playbook hurt my chances. The Lions cut me several times, but they kept bringing me back because I had the talent to play at the next level. I put in the time to study the playbook but because of my dyslexia I could not master it. Eventually, my talent was not enough to overcome my inability to read, and I had to give up on my dream of playing in the NFL.”

For all the Deons out there, we must pass our Dyslexia screening legislation, which is awaiting a hearing in the House.

Conversations around this have been happening for years. Get bipartisan support and pass it already! Michigan is so far behind other states in passing this type of legislation. So frustrating. Also - Deon is an amazing voice for the dyslexic community. 👏🏻🩵

“In 2022, officials said Bachman threatened Black state legislators from Lansing and Detroit.

Bachman left a voicemail for Anthony saying, "We'll be coming to Michigan soon to remove you from your post."

The message also said, "And, um, you won’t see the bullet coming, let me tell you that," the AG's office said in a 2022 release.

The following month, Bachman left a voicemail for Johnson, saying "we are going to get you. You will die," officials said. That message also included racist rhetoric, they said.

The caller, who also threatened Johnson's family, said the lawmaker could be targeted with a long-range weapon while grocery shopping.

She signed off the call with the words: "Sleep well."
